Dr Orna McGinn will discuss the current recommendations and guidelines for the prescription of all types of contraception, as well as covering issues with contraceptive access in NZ and how this impacts teenage pregnancy and child poverty here. Orna will review the new Ministry of Health funding for long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs) which includes increased access for certain groups of women, as well as increased practitioner training.

Dr Orna McGinn
Orna has been in New Zealand 8 years after working as a GP and family planning doctor in the UK since 1999.
She works part time as a GP in Pakuranga and also works in a DHB funded free contraception clinic in Mangere, South Auckland.
