Eczema is a term used to describe a group of common chronic inflammatory skin conditions that cause the skin to become dry, discoloured, itchy and inflamed.
The appearance and presentation may vary from one person to another complicating diagnosis. One in 10 individuals are likely to have eczema at some stage during their life time particularly in childhood but it can occur at any stage of life. From birth to senescence; eczema is no respecter of age. Due to its chronic and relapsing nature for many individuals it can cause significant impairment in quality of life.
However, with the right diagnosis, tools and management good control can be achieved for many individuals.
This webinar will cover common types of eczema from birth to the elderly including their presentations, treatment and differential diagnosis.

Dr Paul Jarrett
Paul is a dermatologist at Middlemore Hospital, Counties Manukau District Health Board and Honorary Senior Lecturer in the Department of Medicine, The University of Auckland. He trained in Hamilton, Auckland, and in the UK where he undertook a fellowship year at the University of Glasgow. He completed his MD through The University of Auckland and his interest is medical dermatology.
Research areas include; cutaneous lupus, psychological effects on wound healing, vitamin D and dermatology in the elderly.
