Dr Ed Gane
MBChB, MD, FRACP, MNZM, FRSNZ
Ed is Professor of Medicine at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, Hepatologist and Deputy Director of the New Zealand Liver Unit at Auckland City Hospital. He chairs the Ministry of Health HepC Implementation committee.
Ed is an investigator for many international clinical trials and has published almost 300 papers in peer-reviewed journals including The Lancet and The New England Journal of Medicine. In 2011, Dr. Gane was awarded Member of the Order of New Zealand for Services to Medicine and in 2017, was New Zealand Innovator of the Year for his work towards HCV elimination in New Zealand.

Dr Richard Davies

Richard trained in Belfast, and worked as a GP medical officer in the Falkland Islands until moving to NZ in 2010. He works at Auckland City Mission’s Calder Health Centre, where he and his team have treated and cured over 100 patients – many of them homeless – with HCV infection.
In 2018, Richard received a Winston Churchill Fellowship to visit general practice clinics in the UK to learn more about providing care to the homeless and other vulnerable groups.
