Rachael works in Auckland at Greenlane Clinical Centre and Auckland Eye as a uveitis and medical retina specialist, and is a senior lecturer with the Department of Ophthalmology, University of Auckland.
Rachael undertook her PhD at the University of Auckland in 2005, awarded the Vice Chancellor Best Doctoral Thesis Award. Following vocational training, she completed her fellowship training in uveitis and medical retina at Moorfields Eye Hospital with Professor Lightman. She is the author of >120 peer reviewed publications and has given over 90 presentations at national and international conferences. Dr Niederer has been the recipient of several awards, including the Howsam medal for Excellence in Ophthalmology, the Sir William McKenzie prize in Ophthalmology and the Distinguished Clinical Tutor Award.
