Bio

Rob Young BMedSc MBChB DPhil (Oxon) FRACP FRCP - Associate Professor, Consultant Physician, Department of Medicine, Auckland City Hospital

Rob is a Consultant Physician in the Department of Medicine, Auckland City Hospital and Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences at the University of Auckland. Currently, he lectures to medical students and post-graduate science students. His research and clinical interests focus on the primary prevention and early diagnosis of smoking-related respiratory diseases, COPD, and lung cancer. He has been the first to show that COPD and lung cancer are linked at a molecular genetic level through overlapping pathogenetic pathways that are activated by smoking in susceptible smokers.
