Chandni has been working as a Consultant Psychiatrist in Auckland since 2002. She has a special interest in co-existing mental health and substance use disorders, particularly in the perinatal period. Chandni has worked at Aronia Ora- the Auckland maternal mental health service – for 13 years and was the Lead Clinician. She was the Clinical Lead for the Parental and Pregnancy Service (PPS), at Auckland Regional Community Alcohol and Drug Service (CADS). She is currently the Psychiatrist at the Co-existing (Te Wairua) Odyssey House residential treatment programme in Auckland and Northland and provides clinical input to the Odyssey House Family Centre.
Chandni has been involved in teaching and training across the mental health sector and has been an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Department of Psychological Medicine, University of Auckland and she has several publications.
