Nikki Turner

Academic General Practitioner

Nikki is an academic General Practitioner, a Professor in the Department of General Practice and Primary Care and  the Principle Medical Advisor to the Immunisation Advisory Centre, University of Auckland. Nikki's interests include immunisation, equity, child poverty and primary health care. She lives in Wellington and works part-time as a General Practitioner at NUHS Broadway Clinic in Wellington. She is also a health spokesperson for the Child Poverty Action Group. 

Nikki developed and evolved the Immunisation Advisory Centre since its inception 25 years ago.  IMAC is the national centre for advice, clinical guidance, quality standards, coordination, education and training, and promotion for vaccines and the national schedule programme. Nikki is on several national advisory groups for immunisation and vaccines including for Pharmac and the NITAG. Academically, she is widely published with over 120 academic publications in the areas of immunisation, vaccinology, and child health.
